Q: Why should I train here? What’s the difference between your class and a typical traditional martial arts class?

A: Our curriculum is comprehensive and alive. The coaching is excellent. It’s a unique training experience. Come and experience it for yourself - the first class is always free.

Adults
It’s fun and it’s a healthier way to train. We offer a well-rounded curriculum and a safe, supportive, training environment. There are no artificial incentives - belts, certification. We offer a place where you can challenge yourself and grow. We emphasize development of individuals and setting concrete training goals -- goals that are rooted in performance. Am I getting better? This is answered by measuring yourself against your training partners in class -- and ultimately against the person you were yesterday. You’ll have a blast.

Children
Our children’s classes are unlike other martial arts programs in the area. Kid’s aren’t drilled militaristically - they play. The training is structured and directed. The children are encouraged to explore, experiment and grow. Freed from the ritualistic drilling, their performance and enjoyment levels skyrocket. They come back because it’s fun - they come back because they want to.

Q: I’m new, what if I don’t have previous martial arts experience?

A: Our introductory courses, MMA101, WOMEN’S SELF DEFENSE and INTRODUCTION to MMA, are specifically designed to expose you to the full scope of our curriculum. The introductory classes run in a continuous loop, so you can join in at any time. At the end of the introductory period your conditioning level will have improved and you’ll have enough game for the more challenging Core Classes.

Q: Where do I start if I have previous martial arts experience?

A: Our initial introductory class, INTRODUCTION to MMA will give us a chance for us to evaluate your conditioning and skill, from there we can help you determine which class would benefit you the most.

Q: When are you class times? How much do you charge? Where are you located?

A: Checkout Schedule and Membership page.

Q: What’s a typical class like?

A: Our curriculum is based on the "I" method.

Introduction
The technique is introduced or "taught". This is usually begins with a demonstration then the class follows with little or no resistance. The curriculums of most traditional martial arts stay at this point. We prefer to take as little time as necessary to get the point across.

Isolation
The majority of the class is spent at this stage. The specific skill or skills are isolated and drilled against progressive resistance.

Integration
This is where the skill is brought back into the specific game through free sparring. Stand Up, Clinch, Ground or the overall game where everything comes together.

The general breakdown of a typical 45-minute class:

  • Functional, activity specific, warm-up: 5 minutes
  • Technique introduction, Isolation Drills: 25-30 minutes
  • Sparring, Integration: 10-15 minutes
  • The actual time-table of the class varies depending on the training goals for the given session, as well as the athletes’ ability
  • All training is self-paced, in that the member decides the level of intensity they can handle in a give session
  • All classes are consistently monitored for safety

In the future we will be offering classes that focus on specific areas of our training:

  • Accelerated Training Program
